"i'm kinda of a big deal..."

...in peyton & beckham land, anyway!

as a reluctantly proud, yes you heard me correctly, proud owner of a minivan, this had me in tears of laughter.

(reluctant meaning: the week i turned 30, no doubt a big birthday that i didn't enter into lightly or very happily, i was like 100 months pregnant with beckham. i was huge, uncomfortable, and my husband finally steam rolled me into buying a minivan. i visited the dealership no less than ten times and had our sales guy drive repeatedly around the parking lot (while i stayed in the ac and watched out the window, of course) in both a white & black van.

I couldn't decide which one looked LESS like a minivan. i decided on black.

when i received the call that my loaded, powder blue (say what?) minivan was ready...well, let's just say it wasn't pretty. tears, a meltdown that would rival any one year olds...

order canceled.

two years later and i love my swagger wagon.

enjoy!

  1. Lol I saw this a couple of months ago on FB. And yes I am also the proud owner of a minivan. In fact my first new car was a minivan and when I first got it I had just had my 3rd baby and I felt just like so so old. Now i can't live without it--it's literally necessary with 4 kids.

  2. haha I can relate.. I NEVER wanted a minivan and now I'm stuck in a big ole 15 PASSENGER. Ugh. The things we endure for our children!

Heidi, my daughter and I keep asking overlapping camera/photo taking/editing questions ...I hope you don't feel like we're stalkers trying to get free tips :/ We are in love with your photography but also your blog and writing! Ignore all our questions, we will click on your photo Q&A link !!

    Have a great weekend:)

  3. When we got our minivan, my younger brother said, "hey sis, way to throw in the towel on the cool factor right off the bat" I responded, "when your life revolves around your milk supply and a nap schedule, you've already thrown in the towel.

another great line from him is "you give me hope....I thought you had to quit drinking when you had kids" I told him, they are just more reason to imbibe:) Happy Friday to you! :)

  6. hey, that's my ride!

Before Lily I had the same type of reaction about the "mini-v" when David suggested it. I was actually slightly offended he mentioned it to me that he thought his "cool" wife would want one.

After being pg with Grady and test driving one, I couldnt get one fast enough and will have a mini-v when kids are old and grown!! I love it THAT much!!

Sometimes when we get home and pull in the garage, Lily will say "no out" meaning she wants to hang in the swagger wagon too.

    I'm in love!!

And I'm kinda a big deal.

  8. I do love me some swagger wagon...

You know, I have a bumper sticker on my minivan that says "I can't believe I own a minivan". It's been three years and I just can't quite admit to myself that I choose to drive that.

  9. When I was a teenager various friends drove minivans(their parents) and we always called them Shaggin' Wagons.

Hysterical! I love my van, seriously couldn't live without it. It's so stinkin' luxurious! 2 clicks and you've got all your doors open including the back hatch! We also have a sa-weeeet 15 passenger van, and it's almost too awesome for me to handle. You can walk to the back. Just get up out of your seat and walk back there. Duh, who wouldn't love that!?

  13. Wow! I lost you for awhile there! I've moved so many times, and lost your marker from Kelle's page and I never read her comments anymore, so I've missed your page for a long time! But, I want to say congrats on the Photo credits in Parents Mag! So cool and what a great article! The gals at the salon where I got my haircut let me take the magazine home I got sooo excited when I saw the article! Have a great autumn. :)

  14. I love that commercial. Find myself saying, Where my kids at? at odd moments sometimes. People at work look at me funny but I guess I'm used to that by now.

    Love you girl!

  15. You ARE a big deal! That commercial is great. And, just for the record, I am not the owner of a minivan ... holding out for as long as I can. We did rent one when we were in Florida, and my man loved it! We'll see. I just love my pickup truck. I know, it's the redneck in me ... ha!

    Smile!
