in the weeds.

i'm in the weeds.
this is what i used to say when i was a server, a million years ago, and i needed help because i had to many tables, not enough hands, and-well, i just wasn't that wonderful a server.

i thought this was a pretty common thing to say when one was busy or overwhelmed with something, but apparently it's not. i know this because 99% of the time when i say it, the person i am saying it to looks at me like i have three eyes.

i guess i'm the kind of person that lets things go for 'just one more day!' it's me. it's worked this long for me, so i figure i won't be improving upon myself anytime soon even though, maybe i should. maybe not, because we went to the library instead and it was so much fun! no, beckham 'couldn't find' a book he liked in the whole library, and he threw the biggest i'm-so-tired-get-me-out here-tantrum ever, we read and explored and it was the perfect afternoon.

i was going through the folders and folders of photos i have taken in the last couple of weeks and i see i have missed sharing some of them. this drives me INSANE. so, instead of posting my spring mini shoots, which were amazing and the photos are darling, i will 'catch up' and post the mini-shoots tomorrow night!

first off, peyton made it clear she wanted me to post her wikistick materpiece. not on her blog, but on mine!
we love them for their possibilities. window decorating looks like a great way to use them, although we haven't yet. this idea is great because the clean up is so easy. we'll try that tomorrow for sure!

my sister, auntie hi-o, came for a surprise visit. she is peyton's do-it girl. she will do anything for peyton's love and affection...it's disgusting;) we love you, auntie heather! come visit again soon, mommy needs a break. LOL!!!

love watching these kids play it up...

check out my girl bustin' a move. she is...amazing. she is what i like to call my sensitive baby, just like her mama. it can be a challenge, but she is so independent these days and i am just. so. proud. i love her nature and her sweet little heart.

and a couple more happy things...

a princess on my couch...it can happen at any time of the day and it makes me smile and hopeful that this spur of the moment wardrobe change will continue for a long time to come.

godiva hot cocoa mix. mix with hot milk. phenom. seriously look forward to this likes its a huge, fluffy-death-by-chocolate-confection-of-gooey-love. well, maybe not, but i try to act like it.

i like to add coffee, whipped cream and a garnish of hershey's syrup...i like...to talk about food, okay!:)

this girl and her camera and how she is kinda like me. makes me happy.

an evening with her when we both needed some girl time. she wanted me and i needed her. we played spa, while the boys went for pizza. we pampered, talked, and took pictures. it was divine!

and this meal...

i am trying to post my favorite meals here so one day, peyton has a collection of my favorite recipes. i have about 20 sets of pictures and recipes, so i need to get posting!

this is mexican chicken soup.
i used leftover rotisseri chicken cut into smaller pieces. add olive oil to dutch oven or soup pot, turn up heat, soften 2 cups chopped carrots, 1 cup chopped celery, and 2 cups chopped onion-cook for 10 min. add 4 large garlic cloves, add shredded chicken, 2.5 quarts chicken stock, 2 jalapenos peppers minced, a teaspoon each of coriander & cumin, salt, pepper to taste. bring soup to boil. lower heat, simmer for an hour.

i added avocado and sour cream to top of my soup-cilantro optional. also, i cut up into triangles and lightly browned flour tortillas in olive oil. added those as a garnish.

i adapted this recipe from this book!
she rocks. she's all about fresh ingredients. mostly local. i just go to publix, but i like to pretend i went to the local farmers market with my cloth and very 'green' produce tote where i'll purchase only what i need effortlessly. i am pretty sure i am wearing white trousers and a white and blue button down blouse where i will leave the store with freshly made strawberry jam and a large, warm french baguette sticking out of the top of my bag...wine, friends, music, candles---i'm a freak!

lastly, before i collapse into bed. i want to say how proud i am of kelle! her interview went beautifully and i can't wait for everyone to see it! it was real, honest, emotional, and lovely...and super fun! love you.

okay, i did a little weeding. no proofreading, but i feel better.
xoxoxo

  6. Ummm, Kelle, a weed party doesn't sound like such a good idea with all those kiddos around :)

Heidi, I'm a huge fan of putting it off for "just one more day" too!

Love Peyton's little blog. I'll have to shoot over there and leave her a comment. Will she think that's weird?

LOVE all your food pics and details. I too think you should be shooting food pics for a magazine. You do an awesome job.

Love the pics of you and your sis, you guys look so much alike!

Hope you have a great day!

  9. I think I say the same thing each & every time but I love your photos!!! the one of your daughter "bustin' a move" while the boys are fiddling with tools cracks me up! it's so "a girl thing"... yet she has her pink jersey on so she kind of blends in! I can totally relate -- with three little girlies of my own we can never get enough pink and the more glitzy dress up clothes the better! A good pair of purple fringe boots, a nice bike ride and a mom to capture it all... your kiddies are L-U-C-K-Y!!!!!!!

  16. Maybe one day I will get the nerve to get a real camera like you and Kell. I think I would quit my job and have you teach me microsoft digital imagining and we could make scones, shop at flee markets and I would open a cake shop for cool moms only. "no bitchin' in my kitchen" will be my bakery name. And when I say cool moms only I mean those that drop everything for a friend, love their friend's kids like their own and are okay with a little (or a lot) of clutter. Hope to see you soon!

  26. I wandered over here from Kelle's blog...which I'm addicted to...and now, after reading yours I can see I'm going to become addicted to you too. You and Kelle are like peas in a pod...from what I can see, you both have amazingly loving and beatiful kids (and hubbys), both write in a way that just makes the reader feel like your best friend, both take spectacular photos...and oddly enough both have family in Michigan. It's great. I will be tuned in for more...
